Support Youth Mental Health & Safer Internet Day 2025

Collaboration with the Surabaya City Government and youth communities, and with support from UNICEF, held an event titled “Adolescent Mental Health Support & Safer Internet Day 2025 Commemoration” at the Siola Building in Surabaya.

The event was attended by 76 representatives from relevant local government offices (DP3APPKB, Department of Education, and Department of Communication and Information) as well as key stakeholders including representatives from academia, civil society organizations, and media. It also welcomed youth community members, INSAN community facilitators, and INSAN ambassadors from schools and neighborhood levels.

The event began with opening remarks by Millan Kidane, Head of Child Protection Programme at UNICEF Indonesia. This was followed by an address from Dita Amalia, Director of PLATO and UNICEF partner for the OCSEA (Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) prevention program and the HAT (Helping Adolescents Thrive) initiative in support of adolescent mental health.

The event featured several key activities, including:
The Launch of a Mental Health-focused Instagram Account, created by adolescents, from adolescents, and for adolescents, aiming to spark conversations around mental health in youth-friendly ways.

A Dialogue with Jurnalis Sahabat Anak (Child-Friendly Journalists) on the theme “Strengthening Child Protection in the Digital Space”. The panel featured speakers from the Surabaya Children’s Forum (FAS), the Surabaya Student Organization (ORPES), INSAN Ambassadors, PLATO, and UNICEF Indonesia.

A Child Consultation Forum on Online Child Protection, which served as a platform to gather children’s voices and perspectives in the development of regulations concerning digital child protection.
